The Venev Diamond Factory's bar of premium series of abrasives on a flat aluminum plate. The abrasive layer on this plate is not sintered, but glued to the plate body. Already out of the box such a block is ready to work, it does not require alignment on silicon carbide. The block is suitable for basic sharpening.

The 50/40 side is made on the organic binder B2-01. It consists of phenol-formaldehyde resins and various compositions based on them. During hot pressing the resins are bakelized into a hard and sufficiently strong substance that holds the cutting grains in the working layer of the tool. Such a bond will be sufficiently strong and ductile, but not rigid enough. Abrasive powders such as boron carbide are added to make it tough.

The 20/14 side is made on a new upgraded OSB binder. The difference between the OSB bond and others is that it does not use boron carbide. In addition, the abrasive layer on it is not sintered, but glued to the body of the metal plate. The absence of unnecessary inclusions of other abrasives makes it possible to do softer and finer work. Already out of the box, such a bar is ready to work, it does not require alignment on silicon carbide. OSB binder is ideal for hard steels on small angles.

Work Recommendations:

This binder work with either soapy water or oil. The manufacturer himself recommends working with water or soapy water, but working with oil gives excellent results in terms of cleanliness of the process itself, not leaving such a large amount of water suspension.
