Description
Cotpyr Natur-Kombistein 200 mm - double-sided natural stone made of two natural stones: Blue Belgian Whetstone and French Pierre des Pyrénées. The two sides of the stone are connected with a special glue. The stone is designed for sharpening and polishing blades with a hardness of up to 62 HRC. The manufacturer recommends using it for sharpening razors, kitchen and hunting knives, folding knives and tools. For sharpening itself, it is recommended to use the side with the Pierre des Pyrénées stone, and for final polishing, the side with the Blue Belgian Whetstone stone.
Blue Belgian Whetstone side for polishing.
Abrasive stone gritness is about 6000 units according to the Japanese JIS system. This stone is a mixture of shale and sandstone interspersed with garnet crystals. These protruding crystals give an abrasive effect. The bluish-purple color of the stone is explained by the presence of iron oxide. The stone contains a concentration of 25-30% of garnet grains from the volume of the stone (grain size from 10 to 25 microns). Blue Belgian Whetstone has a high hardness and works aggressively, but it is very thin and fast. Gives a large amount of suspension, which is dominated by garnet particles. Suitable for pre-finish sharpening.
Work recommendations: it is a water stone that requires water suspension to work effectively. It may require leveling before working. Does not require soaking.
Pierre des Pyrénées side for sharpening.
French natural stone, which is mined in a quarry near the village Saurat in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Natural stone is a mixture of shale and sandstone. It consists of several layers of 7 mm thick glued together. The abrasive stone gritness is approximately 1200 units according to the Japanese JIS system. Used with water.
Work recommendations: it is a water stone that requires water suspension to work effectively. It may require leveling before working. Does not require soaking, moisten it only superficially.
The stone is intended for hand sharpening.
Scuffs and light white stains are allowed on the working surface of the stone. They do not affect the quality of the abrasive stone. Small chips are allowed that do not affect the working surface of the stone as well.
Dimensions: 200x60x20mm
